I’ve come across a good number of interesting videos on Shibari these past few years and I figured it’d be fun to share. Here’s a handful of links to the work of notable practitioners from around the world that offer a glimpse of the various ways people practice and enjoy Shibari.
Midori: “Zoë Ligon & I shared an exquisite afternoon… what we thought was going to be an educational share of Shibari and Rope turned out to be a deeply personal time of play and connection.”
“In the private world of Japanese rope bondage—also known as Shibari or Kinbaku—Gorgone grants the viewer an intimate look into the specific practice of self-suspension. Here, the power play dynamic between dominant and submissive, model and rigger, are dealt with internally through one woman’s exploration.”
In this video, Gorgone demonstrates in a short session with JewelryAndFire what can be done with a single rope by using and combining all the concepts and techniques that she teaches in her in-depth Beginner Course.
“Instant Intimacy is an interactive rope performance. Kristina Marlen is tying people from the audience. There´s no rehearsal; it´s a unique experience in bondage. Kristina Marlen is working as a tantric dominatrix in Berlin. She combines conscious touch and bodywork with the world of BDSM. Her passion is Japan’s rope bondage. For her, each encounter in her work is like a performance of ‘Instant Intimacy’. This video is for people who like rather anarchistic rope :-)

“This feature documentary ‘The Pleasure of Rope’ explores Kinbaku, the art of Japanese rope bondage. Director Bob Bentley goes backstage at events and also explores the secret erotic world of rope. For many, tying and being tied is obsessively compulsive. Intimate disclosures reveal rare insights in narratives that are surprising and at times disturbing.”
