Tying & Training with Dee

Shibari, the erotic art of Japanese rope bondage, is a visually striking, emotionally engaging, and creatively challenging practice enjoyed by people all over the world.

If you’re interested in getting tied or trained on how to be a better rope top or rope bottom, private sessions with Dee (Daki) are available for adults of all ages, genders, and body types who want to explore bondage in a safer, supportive, and accepting environment.

Please Note: Due to COVID-19, we’re limiting our private sessions and events to a maximum of 2 attendees.

What People Have To Say

Frequently Asked Questions

Dee Sapalo (Daki) is a rope artist from Makati (and now, Laguna!) who advocates for kink-, sex-, and body-positivity. He joined Manila’s rope community in 2013 and has pursued studies in Shibari locally and abroad, practicing a gently dominating and playfully sadistic style of Japanese rope bondage that emphasizes connection and communication over aesthetics and flair.

Believing that our communities can become more respectful, empathic, and inclusive by practicing kink—Dee takes breaks from designing websites for SMEs by running the Shibari.ph resource blog. He curates relevant resources and hosts events where enthusiasts of all ages, genders, and body types can explore rope bondage in a safer, more supportive, and accepting environment.

You can message him to ask questions or say hello at [email protected].

Private sessions can be focused on either training to improve our skills or getting tied to simply enjoy rope play.

Training: Private Coaching
Rope Tops and Rope Bottoms who want to get better at their respective roles can book private sessions for instruction and support. You’ll access training that taps into almost 10 years of shibari experience informed by disciplines like Filipino Martial Arts, Human-Centered Design, and more. One-on-one or as group is up to you.

Tying: Bondage Sessions
Rope Bottoms who wish to get tied can do so by booking a session. We’ll negotiate what you want to do or experience so we can spend more time having fun and less time doing damage control. Even Rope Tops can ask to be tied in case they’re curious what the experience is like for their partners.

Depending on which you prefer or find more comfortable, you may go alone or invite one friend to join you.

If you are looking to get tied, having a friend accompany or get tied with you is okay.

If you are looking to train as either a top or bottom, having a friend or partner join to practice with you is okay too. That said, attending alone is no problem since our exercises are often doable as self-ties.

If needed, we might be able to provide a professional practice partner (rope top or rope bottom) for an additional fee.

Wear clothes that you feel good in (empowered, sexy, confident, or comfortable). Sports, yoga, and exercise attire are common favorites since they’re not baggy and won’t get caught so often. Bras with underwires however are specifically discouraged since chest-related bondage might make it harder to breathe, deform the underwire, or accidentally poke/stab you.

Nudity during our private events is fun but never required. For public events though, everyone will need to stay clothed.

MEDICATION: Please remember to bring medication if you need any— especially for emergencies (asthma inhalers, insulin, etc.).

CLOTHES: If you reckon you’ll perspire a lot, bring small towels and a change of clothes.

ROPE: At least one (1) piece of 8m long bondage rope (synthetic or jute are recommended) would be good to have. If you have none yet, you may borrow or buy rope from us on the day of your appointment.

EMT/SAFETY SHEARS: We use a special kind of scissors for bondage—the kind used by paramedics for emergency situations which have a blunt tip. We’ll have several shears available for the appointment but you can check out this resource when getting your own pair.

You can browse our selection of natural fiber ropes (jute ropes/asanawa) and synthetic fiber ropes (polypropylene ropes) in our online store.

Of the two, the synthetic ropes are the easiest and most recommended for newbies since they’re easy to wash. The jute ropes are recommended for those who want the charm and personality of a light, natural fiber rope—and don’t mind maintaining them periodically with light coats of rope wax.

Attendees of Shibari.ph events tend to be comfortable enough to use their real names. However, we highly encourage the use of code names and aliases during the events so that you have a layer of defense against people who might have malicious intentions.

Note: Anyone caught harassing other attendees for personal details will be reprimanded or sent out. Repeat offenders will be blacklisted from future events and reported to the other local kink groups.

Photographs are only allowed during our events if all attendees are consenting. If not, we might dedicate a photo-safe zone where photo-taking is allowed.

No worries! Accidents, emergencies, and changed minds happen. Cancellations are free until seven (7) days before the scheduled appointment. After that period, we will need to bill you 75% of the scheduled appointment’s fee as a cancellation fee. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at [email protected]

Session Guidelines:

  1. Choose a kinky codename or alias if you need to protect your identity!
  2. Clear, honest, and cooperative communication is key to any kink experience.
  3. The negotiation discussion before every (tying/training) appointment is required.
  4. Nudity is fun but not required. Wear what makes you feel great.
  5. Please refrain from imbibing alcohol or other intoxicating substances that affect your judgment and motor function before and during the appointment.
  6. Our sessions are open to people of all skill levels and backgrounds but we reserve the right to interrupt or end the scene if you engage in what we personally deem as excessively risky behavior.
  7. Those who refuse to comply with these requests will be rejected, blacklisted, or  reported to the rest of the local groups.
